Ananda Tandava: Painted-Wood Nataraja

This traditional painted wood–carving style sculpture presents Nataraja, Shiva dancing the Ananda Tandava within a lotus-tipped ring of flames. The god’s matted locks stream sideways, a serpent coils across the torso, and a striped green veshti whips with the rhythm.
